Within the current special series on actors and agents, we conducted an interview with Les Gasser, a leading figure in multi-agent systems. Les Gasser is currently an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and program director at the National Science Foundation (NSF). Our aim was to ask him about what he recognizes as the main contributions of the notion of agent and how it is different from (object-oriented) concurrent programming.
